As we roll into the end of the legislative session, I want to thank CAHU members for their support for our legislative program.  We have been getting more and more responses to our requests to send emails to legislators through our Voter Voice program.  We need to speak with “one voice” in Sacramento, and your help is so important in getting that message across.  Thanks for your continued help.

We will keep you up-to date-on information as it comes in about legislation impacting the industry.  So keep your eyes open over the next month or so for the final results of many of the bills that we have been working on in Sacramento.

At this point, I would like to thank our Legislative Staff from California Advocates - Juli Broyles and Mike Belote - as well as prior and current Vice Presidents of Legislation – respectively, Dan Webb and Dave Fear, Jr. -- who have done a great job in figuring out what we need to do and how to go about getting the best result from our legislative program. CAHU's strong presence in the Capitol continues to grow.   But CAHU still needs to work through the fall to help those that recognize the key importance license agents in the new health insurance world and to forge new connections with new members after the November election. That means we will needs to grow our legislative presence and PAC support. Your emails, PAC contributions and ongoing personal advocacy helps tremendously.

Also, during the next few months, most of our chapters will be holding meetings with CAHU leadership as well as with Perry Communications, the firm that has contracted with CAHU's No on 45 campaign:  California Association of Health Underwriters Issues Committee for Responsible Health Insurance Regulation (and, yes, I do have to write it all out) in order to educate our membership about the issues surrounding Proposition 45.  So please attend your local meetings and if possible the CAHU Health Care Summit.  A lot of important information will be shared.

Sincerely,
Patrick Burns
